In May 1998, the convener of the World Chinese Entrepreneurs Conference (WCEC) organized the Singapore Chinese Entrepreneurs Association, the Hong Kong Chinese Entrepreneurs Association and the Thai Chinese Entrepreneurs Association to hold a meeting in Hong Kong and decided to establish the WCEC Secretariat to ensure that the WCEC would be held every two years. Coordination, planning and implementation of coherence and continuity, and organise other activities to strengthen and expand the influence and role of the WCEC.
At the closing ceremony of the 16th WCEC in June 2023, the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong took over as the secretariat of the 5th session for a period of 6 years. They will continue to work hard to strengthen economic exchanges and connections among Chinese businessmen around the world. The Secretariat of the 1st Congress was served by the Singapore Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
